Email to members 16/02/25
I hope you’re doing well! I wanted to take a moment to thank and welcome new members and to share a few key features that existing members may not have explored yet.
Mission:
At PsyConnect, our core mission is to simplify the process of finding the right therapist for clients, while also empowering therapists to work with clients that align with their expertise. We also strive to foster a supportive network based on reciprocity, where therapists can connect, share, and support one another.
Supporting each other through referrals:
The main way of supporting members is by referring / signposting clients you can’t take on. I’ve already referred a few clients through the platform, but I’ve noticed that some members weren’t yet aware of the referral option. We are brand new and although we are planning on launching a social media campaign and google ads very soon, and a couple of psychiatrists have already expressed interest in referring to us, but we still really want to encourage referrals from our members as if everyone who is in a position to refer does so then we will have a steady stream of referrals.
I created this model as I would personally find it more useful than any other I have worked with. When I'm full, instead of having a waiting list (where often clients have already found another therapist when a slot becomes available), I would rather refer it to therapists I know and hope that they do the same. So basically the idea behind PsyConnect is reciprocity—the more we refer clients we can’t accommodate, the more fruitful the network becomes for everyone.
If a client reaches out and you don’t have availability, you can easily refer them to the PsyConect network. Simply copy and share your unique referral link (found in your dashboard) with the client. If they start therapy with another therapist, you receive 50% of the referral fee.
Please click here for an example template of how I signpost clients I can’t accommodate to PsyConnect describing our temporary pool of client enquiries as a “shared waiting list”.
Ruth - PsyConnect Co-founder - has also included a mini guide to referrals in the forum here.
If you already have colleagues whom you normally refer to, please invite them to join PsyConnect, that way instead of having the client contact various people and still they have not been able to find a therapists that works for them (ie, due to insurance, availability, or any other number of reasons).
By referring them to your network (PsyConnect), clients get the support they need sooner and makes their journey into finding treatment easier.
It is important to note that if no other therapist is able to take on a client that you have referred and you can later accommodate them yourself and you take them from the pool, you will not be expected to pay the referral fee (as you have referred the client yourself!).
Resource sharing
Lastly, continuing on the idea of fostering reciprocity, I warmly invite you to share your favourite resources such as client handouts, worksheets made by others or yourself (please remember to credit others where appropriate, and only upload articles that are open source. I have hundreds of resources in my file but have only managed to upload a few dozens, I’m making my way down in alphabetical order (mostly), and although I don’t expect you to do the same it would be lovely to see members sharing whether resources, in the forum, blog and through referrals.
Helping Clients Find You
To ensure that clients (or professionals searching on their behalf) can find you easily, we recommend double-checking that your profile includes all the issues you work with and types of therapy you offer. This increases your chances of being matched with relevant clients.
Additionally, if you feel that any search filters—such as therapy types, client issues, or professional bodies—are missing, please let us know. While we can’t make the list too long, we carefully review all suggestions and add them where appropriate.
Moving Forward
If you have any questions about referrals, profile settings, or anything else, we’re happy to help—whether by email, phone, or Zoom.
You can also use the Therapist Manual (link in button below) as a starting point for navigating the platform.
We truly appreciate your engagement in shaping PsyConnect into a valuable space for therapists. Looking forward to growing the network together!
Best wishes,
Dr. Francisco Flores
